Reflection2 · M
how did you do that?

@Reflection2 I had 5 caterpillars in individual containers given to me by a woman who cares for a lot of butterflies each year. It’s a simple process of feeding them the milkweed plant and cleaning the container daily. They formed their chrysalis and then you just wait for them to emerge. After approximately two weeks, they emerge and I let them dry for a day before releasing them. It was such an amazing process to witness. ❤️ She also gave me some milkweed to plant, which I will do soon. You can check the milkweed for eggs, which can then be transferred into the containers to start the process over.

@WanderingThrough Up to it next summer. IA. Where to get eggs?

@Reflection2 you have to look on the milkweed plants to find them, usually. Or find someone who raises the butterflies, they often have eggs that they can give people to raise.
