Have done in the past - when I lived in a warehouse on the edge of the Thames in London, UK.
I needed the greenery to have some feeling of connection with nature in such an intensely urban environment.
I kept them on a wide window ledge where they faced south to the sun.
At that latitude, with only 12 sunny days per year, they needed every bit of light they could get.
I started with a spider plant - so tough that it's almost impossible to kill. Nevertheless, I very nearly did kill it, until I learned to just give it a tiny sip of water every day and check for the slight degree of dampness with my finger. Then it became so prolific that it grew pups and needed repotting. I potted up the pups and gave them to friends. And it just kept on...
Then I started with colourful coleus and other plants.
