I Took A Walk Down Memory Lane
When I was a kid I wanted everything. If there was a toy commercial playing and it sounded cool I wanted that toy and would announce that to my parents. Remember those big toy catalogs? Yeah I would comb through those suckers and put my initials next to everything I wanted. I was the kid in the grocery store who threw fits over not getting candy.
I remember having an epic meltdown at the mall when I was little over underwear. For whatever reason I wanted silk underwear but my mom wouldn't get me any. OMG you know those carnivals that come to town sometimes? There are stories my mom and grandma would tell about me not wanting to leave. I wanted to keep riding the rides even though they already spent a small fortune on tickets for me. I didn't care I would scream, cry, throw myself down on the ground and people would stare.
I was spoiled. I am pretty certain I could have rivaled any toy store with the collection of toys I had growing up. Every week I got something new it seemed. Not even necessarily a toy. I had a ton of clothes I never even wore or wore only once. When my parents would have garage sales nearly everything out there was either only worn once or still had tags on it. Needless to say I was taken care of.
To some extent I still am the same way. I may not scream and throw myself down on the ground anymore but I still want all the things.
