I Just Had a Profound Revelation

I was told this christmas by my mom that my family had jewish ancestors.

She found out very recently that her grandmother and mother was jewish, I am 29 years old and I never knew nor did I have any idea.

The reason we never knew was that my mom's side of the family had burried this fact to escape prejudice, racism and the scourge of the nazis. My mom basically found out at some family reunification event organized at facebook she attended. The relatives who told her this, even said she should keep this secret because: "you never know when there might be another war".

I understand their "paranoia" if they actually lived and experienced the nazi occupation of Norway and witnessed first hand the persecution of jews...

But now, I just have a feeling that somehow my identity got "robbed" of something...

That'a amazing I am so happy for you dear! :)

If you want to , you can apply to live in a kibbutz, it is really an experience like no other :D you have an 1.5 trial period where you live there, work there, and eat there ...sleep in a home provided (apartment, probably bc you are one person), I don't know that you have to pay anything at all out of pocket to do this.
And if they *accept you* There are criteria, I don't know them exactly , as I've never lived there; but my cousin is living there with her family and she loves it.
So, I imagine, that it's about personality, work ethics, ability to be a team player/team leader and probably they would want to know your prior education/work experiences: which they'd ask of you beforehand anyhow :) etc,)

Not all can get in for the trial period, there is a bar.
Once you are accepted, You are in a kibbutz for life dear!
THAT'S RIGHT :D No one can ever expel you once you are accepted as part of a kibbutz community :D
So, you will always shave a home, food, friends, work, etc.
It's sweet.

Hugs , Luna :)
