I Hate Noise
Somebody brought a kid to our office today. He’s running around yelling. One of the other adults here is encouraging this. I wish I could smack both the child and the adult.
This is a workplace. If the kid needs to yell and run, take him to a park!
I remember as a child being taught that there were times and places where I was supposed to keep still and be quiet. I know it’s unreasonable to expect this to happen 100% of the time (or really, any more than 50% of the time.) But where is the balance, the moderation, the happy medium?
Maybe I should go to that person’s house at a time when they’ve just gotten the kid to sleep and are about to enjoy some adult time, and crank up some loud music and make a huge racket.
