I Hate Body Shaming

Society always feeds us with specific types of body shapes that can never be acquired.

The models you see in magazines - they are all photo shopped, airbrushed and magnified... the list goes on. As a result of this, girls as young as FIVE restrict their diets, starve themselves and have body-image issues, to the point where they start developing illnesses.

Young girls should NEVER have to tolerate this.

I lost a good friend to an eating disorder and I would have been absolutely furious if anyone had body shamed her. This is the last thing that anyone needs.

@SW-User I'm so sorry for your loss :( This truly breaks my heart. I truly hope that was not the case. It's saddening to hear stories where people are physically and mentally affected by the society's standards of beauty. We should all accept ourselves for who we are instead of having a fixed standard of beauty that can never be acquired.

@SW-User Thanks, and you're right, people should be accepted for who they are and people need to take care of their own bodies rather than shaming others. My friend came from a very wealthy family so she had the best doctors yet even they couldn't save her. She knew she had an issue and at the end didn't think she was over weight, but i think she'd passed the point of no return and just couldn't eat. She was in and out of hospital and she lived on latte's as that's all she could stomach. That's where I met her, in a coffee shop. The last day I saw her she said, it was her dream to one day eat a real meal in a restaurant again. Two days later her heart gave out. As a society we need to try and prevent other girls going through this.

I have no words. The society's narrow-minded standards of beauty is to blame. She has more to offer than her looks. The true person will love you for the way you are, not the way you look. Focusing on outer appearance without knowing the person's true self and personality is a recipe for disaster. It's sickening how society focuses so much on beauty standards - it is as if everyone has to fit into a certain mold to get accepted. Everybody is beautiful in their own way. When you finally come to peace with who you are, all the derogatory remarks and standards will eventually fade and no longer hurt you anymore. Please tell your daughter that the right person will love her for who she is. Self-love really starts from a young age.

Great set of photos showing people posing and in natural positions (shame about all the other rubbish going on there) well worth a look.

The more so called celebs promote diet and fitness plans, workout DVDs etc the more society and our children become aware of "Body Image".
