I never saw the St Trinian's film (weren't there 2 or 3?) but I remember seeing stills from it, perhaps the odd clip in telly; and I know it has spawned any number of fancy-dress parties, carnival floats and the like!
I know it was very amusing, perhaps an antidote to all those hale-&-hearty, play-up-and-play-the-game school stories many of us had known in childhood, and which were as equally unlike our real-life experiences. :-)

@davidstorm st trinan's films where produced as fictional comedy but where based on a private academy school down south in the uk in the 50's and 60's the uniform wrap round skirt had to be around 16 inches long,pleated with the flat panel to the front and navy blue, worn with white shirt,tie,blazer and straw boater hat and mandatory suspender belt and stockings and regulation navy blue or white school marry Jane knickers as my wife is dressed above. the school was a normal private school for young ladys of the rich as in the films but thats where the resemblance ends the auther of the book and films thought it would make a good sexy comedy and it took of like wild fire i have all the films on disc now.
