I Believe In a Higher Power

Beyond Mortality


I’m lucky I know she’s there,
lucky to know it’s true.
So long ago she made herself known,
showing the way to go.
From dreamer to believer metamorphosis began.
Belief drifting to far more clear certainty.
She was taught to be expected in church, mosque or temple.
and there were plenty of experts on that.
But; she’s confounded the challenge
By showing up here and there…
Sometimes in the sun lit glade,
other times beyond the leafy shadows.
In the mountains and the spring green meadows.
She showed her beauty day after day
focused in life’s joy, laughter and in tears.
In sporting highlights, last minute wins; even budding flowers.
With the best of friends on long lazy days
and smiles in crowds and soaring song.
Those stolen mortal moments,
their connections that gave me certainty
Coincidences comforting and inexplicable,
without her guiding touch.
