I think I am. There are few things that move me and make me cry more than stories of dogs who have been waiting for their masters for years after their deaths.

Animals do feel and can sense loss. Here's an example, elephants who lose their mating partner the surviving one would literally starve itself to death. A friend was driving in a rural area and saw all these horses standing around in a circle around a dead horse in the paddock.
