A Childhood Book About Manhatten
Sometimes I sit and think about memories I have from childhood books. I usually can't remember the title. One memory in particular is from a book about Manhattan. It's a late night, and the rain is falling. Our character carries an umbrella while taking a walk, listening to the bustling traffic in the distance, silhouetted by the copper glow of the street lights. He passes by a park, and he sees a young couple holding hands near a fountain, sharing an umbrella. He took in every detail of his adventure. It's a scene much like Leonid Afremov's "Rain at Night" oil painting.
I've always wanted to find that book again. There was no plot. It was just a late-night stroll through Manhattan. Something about that just stayed with me.
