I Had a Bad Dream
My Sister's Death - Or Not...... I have this recurring dream about my sister at the beach. The tide's coming in, and Mum and Dad were already moving towards the ramp up the cliff and out to safety but of course me and my sister are still there playing. We are young in the dream (around 16 and 19 I think, me the older), it's set about 10 years ago quite often.
Well, her being shorter than me, the water swells up around her legs faster than mine and she starts struggling to keep up with me. Sometimes we reach the railing and I hold onto her arm and pull her up, but sometimes not. Sometimes she I have to watch her floating out to sea, knowing if I jump in I will drown with her, if I don't I have to live knowing I let her drown, but at least I can support my parents through it and we can mourn together. Maybe it's trying to show me that it is not my fault what happens to my sister. I only realised that just now writing it, whereas I've seen the dream at least 10 times over the years! already!!
Well this one was different, a bit. I dreamed we were on a beautiful tiny island, and something like Pirates of the Caribbean happened where we lifted the boat and took it inland. I'd been there before, and only seen the building there weren't any people around. So I was surprised this time to see some Jeeps on the beach and people milling around. So I went round the corner of the building to see another part of ocean, and there were a pod of orcas (killer whales) playing around. With young. They were as close to the shore as they could get. I stayed back, knowing they would happily jump out, grab me, and wiggle back in.
So we went inside and ordered food. Nobody else wanted to come round and see with me. I persuaded my sister and someone else to come out with me, after it got dark, but the moon and stars were bright so we could see. Then suddenly after they'd seen them in the sea, we were by a pool with orcas in! Same pod. My sister didn't care and a friend didn't know that they would jump out and get you. The friend was walking close and they one of the young was snapping at her. She was terrified and I kept shouting at her to keep back they would happily eat us. Then my sister, standing next to me, got fed up with my safety warnings and went up to the edge. There was a platform some 3ft down, and she jumped onto it! Within 5s she was in an orca's mouth. Apparently she was still whole, and had some kind of fight with it (think Gandalf and Balrog), and it put her back momentarily. Then I woke up.
Maybe this has something to do with the privileges we have out here where we are now - to see lions, elephants, dolphins, whales, etc. up close and visit conservation areas including deserted beaches. If we abuse those privileges, nature or man will find some way to eat us or make us pay.
Thoughts? :)
