I Love Cats

When my husband and I separated a few months ago, he moved to an apple orchard and took our beloved Julius with him to live on the farm. Recently, Julius was attacked by who knows what. My husband took Julius to an animal shelter and just dropped him off. He sent me a text to let me know, ending it with "RIP dear friend".

So, I thought that Julius had died from the incident. About a month ago, I got a call from the animal shelter that realized that Julius had an identifying chip installed. I was called and told that Julius was still alive, but that he'd lost his tail. She thought that if I picked him up that he would be going back to the farm. She wanted Julius to be an indoor cat with a loving family.

I told her that my husband I were separated and that there is no way that I would allow him to take Julius back to the farm and that if I picked him up, he was going to stay indoors with me. She told me that she'd go talk to the others and see if it was appropriate for me to have him back. We hung up and she called me back about ten minutes later, saying that they'd like to see him living with someone he is familiar with.

So, I went and got him. The surgery cost $1000. If he was to have the surgery done at a vet hospital, it would cost 3,000 to 4,000. The 1,000 would be considered a donation, and she gave me a receipt as such.

Julius, of course, is happy being an indoor cat. He is now living at my shop, where I spend about 12 hours a day or more. For the first time since I picked him up, he came up to see me at my desk in the front room. He was all over me, wanting my attention. He's always hidden in the back, having run away when customers come in. He is now sitting in his bed on my desk for the first time and is hesitant when the door opens, but when he realizes how much attention he's getting, he starts purring and soaking in the love.

I can't believe your husband would be so heartless. That's divorce criteria for me personally, because my pets are like my own children.

@PoetryNEmotion Julius is doing very well. He is living at the shop where he has plenty of room to roam, unlike the motorhome where I live. The first couple of weeks, he was very shy and would run when someone opened the door. After about two weeks, two couples came in for one of the guys to get measured. Don't know what he sensed, but instead of running, he hopped onto my pattern making table, and started rubbing up against the guy I was measuring. He was all over everybody, getting love, and was in heaven!!

Now, he happily greets all the customers who come in. He's recovered very well, and the fur around his tail has grown back beautifully. He follows me around the shop all day, and of course gets in the middle of every project I work on.

Hope you are doing well, dear sis. Love you.
