Just got offered a job today

I recently lost my temp job a week and a half ago and have been kind of half-heartedly looking for a new one. Today I was taking a walk with some church friends, and as we were walking we saw a building with a “now hiring” sign outside, so I stopped in to see what they were offering. They said they were DESPERATELY needing employees. This was apparently a labor union (I’ve never worked under a union before), and the nearest job they were hiring for was what they called a “general labor” job at a local airport. The guy didn’t give a whole lot of details on the job itself, but it sounds like something I’ve never done before. He said it would start with mostly cleaning, and then they could train me to do more stuff like tearing down walls? Sounds…different. Anyway, I accepted the offer, since at this point anything is better than nothing. The pay is pretty good, and he said since I’m signing up with the union, they’d probably be able to find me another job once this one was over. They also offer really nice benefits like full health insurance after three months (I wouldn’t have to pay a penny) and a pension plan. They said I could come in as soon as tonight, but I decided I should probably come in tomorrow after I get some rest. I’m a bit nervous since I’ve never done anything in this field, and I also have a minor muscular disorder. He also said that he’s been hiring people and they just don’t come in, which makes me suspicious. But you never know until you try, right? The hours aren’t the best either—it’s night shift—and I’d be working 48-50 hour weeks with only Sundays off. That’ll prevent me from lots of my hobbies (like my singing group on Tuesday nights), but it’s only going to be temporary, so I guess that’s not the end of the world.

Anyway, I’m hoping and praying things will go well tomorrow night.
