I Don't Get It, I Don't Just Don't Understand

Mostly about people who want a girlfriend or boyfriend after a number of days. I use to date this guy who told me he wanted a girlfriend in 22 days, why 22 days? Why not just hang around someone for some time (a few months to a year or so), see how things work out and then decide? I didn't know there was an amount of time to something, maybe next time there should be a contract as well.
