It happens. Elderly can turn abusive to care givers and family, get agitated and strike out. Special needs children also.

I remember once being a chaperone for a movie outing for few dozen special needs young teens. Their syndrome was characterized by heavy weight, and extremes of very friendly and loving to very aggressive and combative with very little time between the two extremes. Two of the kids had a disagreement and got into a fight. One started running and ran around the theater twice and then behind the screen, found a ladder, and had climbed to the ceiling. I of course followed and prayed that she wouldn't fall while begging her to calm down and professing that everything would be alright. After 5 minutes she calmed down and retreated. This was all while the movie was running. Thankfully the 500 other movie goers figured what was going on and didn't attack me :)

By the time we returned to our seats all was well.

The frustration of special needs children was so noticeable. The need to feel free Vs the need to be managed was so heavy.

I work with children that have behaviour disorders. I try to de-escalate them, but sometimes when I am called in to intervene they are extremely agitated. My job is to keep them and others safe. I teach them alternative ways to deal with their fristrations. Unfortunately it doesn't happen overnight.

So true, waiting is the hard part. I have no more than 9 years to go. No it did not go well; she did not like my flirtatious nature. Better that it ended sooner than later. As you may know, long distance relationships can be difficult.

Exactly. I tell my daughter that she needs to understand that she must work for things in life, and she will appreciate what she earns because of it.

The job is going okay. There are times that I wish I could retire already because of some of the changes the system is going through, but in due time.

Long distance can be hard. Especially if there is a lack of trust. I am sorry. I was really hoping things were going to go well. You deserve a fulfilling relationship.

It is not a job for everyone, but it is important. Unfortunately I have a few reminders of how difficult some days are. I have been stabbed more than once. They don't mean it. They are usually in a blind rage. Those are usually the turning points though. I refuse to show a reaction. They learn to trust me.

I get that. I tried raising my kids with a sense that anything worth having is worth working for.

It is difficult. I just do not want her to be one of these millennials that thinks everything should be handed to them on a silver platter.

Yes it is; and I am only trying to set her on the right path.

Set on right path is difficult. And devoting time to her is admirable
