I Got The Slipper At School
For (relatively) more serious stuff, boys would get the cane on the hands but girls were sent to a woman teacher to be slippered. I was well-behaved and was never caned and, in fact, I can only think of two girls who were slippered.
That all changed in secondary school. Within a couple of weeks, two boys in an art lesson decided to paint each other’s faces with pastels.... one was sent to fetch the slipper from wherever it was before both were given 2 or 3 whacks, touching toes in front of the class. Our behaviour was exemplary from then on!
Fast forward a couple of years and we had a form teacher who seemed to use any excuse to whack boys. He delighted in delivering a long lecture before telling you to bend over. Considering how often I got it, I don’t know why it always surprised my just how much it hurt and for how long afterwards it could be felt. He really was a nasty piece of work and I wouldn’t want him anywhere near my kids.
