I Got The Slipper At School

Getting the slipper at junior school was quite a common occurrence as the teachers just after the war were no nonsense people who didn't tolerate poor behaviour. Hence there is usually some kids are got the slipper for misbehaving at break or lunch time. I remember being whacked along with another girl and three boys for playing out of bounds. I always thought it unfair on such occasions that the boys were slippered on the back of their shorts while the girls had their skirts flipped up so we got it on our knickers. But in those days it was no good complaining. My mum just said that if I hadn't misbehaved I wouldn't have been slippered in the first place!

The slipper wasn't all that common at my junior school. It was hardly used at all in the first couple of years and only a few times a week in the final years.

It was much more common in secondary school, a daily event in most classes. We had to lift our skirts to have the cane or slipper too, even in 6th form although we were allowed to wear trousers in 6th and were slippered or caned through them.
