I Love the Theatre

Today I arrived at the coffee shop right around 0530. Usually I get there order my coffee go to the table in the corner that overlooks the street. Then I place my ear buds in and turn on one of my podcasts and pull out my journal unwrap its leather bindings and begin journaling about my day and the problems that I need to further reflect on. But today I was feeling rather social. I sat at the normal table but I had no ear buds in. I instead had my journal off to the side occasionally writing down a comment or a sudden thought that came to mind. Soon an older man sat down at a table next to me. I asked him if he'd care to sit down with me and talk. The old man smiled and sat across from me he sat his morning paper on the table. From seeing him here before I knew this was his morning routine. The man would have been in his mid 70's. We began casual conversation. I notice him check his watch. The watch was an older watch very simple with a cloth band. I inquired about the his watch. It was a Cardinal watch a watch company I had never heard of. He began to tell me a story of how he came to own such a watch. He told me he received it from his wife on the night they celebrated their 5th anniversary. He had gotten his wife a brooch and he never expected his wife to get him a present. They didn't have a lot of money and were really splurging on the night. They ate at home but had decided to go to a play to celebrate. I told him I had tickets to the local play house. We began discussing how plays were a beautiful thing and in our opinion much better than a movie. The actors who starred in the show showed raw emotion that they only had one opportunity to get right. They also had such a knack for improvisation. This got me thinking about how I believe if people would give the theatre a chance they would rather enjoy the live show rather than a cut and edited movie. It seems a little old fashion but I truly enjoy the nights out to the theatre. I enjoy them so much they're truly a pleasant memory that I like to reminisce on.

You sound like such an old soul. Its nice sometimes sitting down and talking to a stranger. Getting a small glimpse into their life. Hearing their thoughts its interesting and I am sure you made his day.

I love live theatre. We have some great little theatres near my home and I enjoy supporting these places because they bring me such joy.
@Fungirlmmm As they should I have yet to discover that a place can have as much energy as a live show whether the theatre or a concert.
