I Believe In The 2nd Amendment

I believe that the right to bear arms is inherent to humans. I also believe this to be a natural right that predates the Constitution. Therefore, in my mind, it isn't something that the government has granted me a specific right to by way of the declarations set forth in the amendment process of this country's Living Document. But rather that the 2nd amendment merely acknowledges that which is already ours. The right to defend ourselves as we each see fit.

If you would rather disarm yourself, so be it.
If you want cornflakes in the morning..., have at it.

But don't tell me that what works well for you is now to be superimposed upon everyone else so that you and yours can pretend that you are safer.

BTW - I like Lucky Charms and toast....

Oh, and before I forget to mention this:
I do not now, nor have I ever, owned any type of firearm.
Indeed I have only fired a handful of weapons under the guidance of others.

See..., I don't fit those leftist profiles....
Mostly because I am a Democrat on most domestic issues

Thought about social contract theory recently?

I have.

But I need to ask..., Do you truly believe that you your self, along with other peers, fashion the contracts of societal parameters under which you live ?

Or, is it more probable that multi-billionaires make the rules in which you are forced to abide by ?

Socrates used something akin to a social contract argument to explain to Crito why he must remain in prison and accept the death penalty. Did he not ?

And, though it has been one of the most dominant theories within moral and political theory throughout the history of the modern West, that does not make it an end all to discussions on personal and/or societal norms when it comes to rights, freedoms, or expectations of the same.

One weakness of the Societal Contract Learning Theory is highlighted by a simple modern societal norm. That being the prolific nature of media and video games that proffer extremely violent themes that are not recreated by the young masses that follow those outlets.

You'll need to be more specific as to exactly which precepts you're reffering to under that doctrinated mindset of theoretical contraception.
@HikingMan Yup, I thought the omission was no accident.

I did not purposely omit anything. This is a complex subject with many variables.

To look upon the subject through a singular vision is not only unwise, it's unproductive.
