I Work Full Time

I’ve started getting calls and emails from recruiters.

The first place is a company that has a really bad reputation on Glassdoor. I already worked for one sociopath - I don’t need to work for another. Also, the commute one way would be an hour and 15 minutes. When I asked if remote work was possible, they said no.

So, I told them that I cannot realistically consider that position.

This is the first time in years that I’ve done something like that in a work situation.

I’m tired of feeling “desperate” and being willing to consider options that would make my life miserable. When I was very young and new to the work world, my parents encouraged me to have that kind of desperate, willing-to-put-up-with-anything attitude.

Today, I feel like I stood up for myself at last.

Excellent! Good for you! It's important to sit back a little and work out what works for you and what doesn't - which is what you have done. You did it perfectly.
