I Work Full Time

How’s this for a bad workplace? I found out two days ago that I’m being let go. I told my best work friend about it - and he said he envies me. And he wasn’t joking!

That's a bummer. I was a few weeks short of twenty-five years before I was let go. My most recent supervisor gave me an impossible assignment (I had to do the phone call-to-final-record-on-PC breakdown for all agents belonging to me, and another woman whose son was getting married at the same time I was accustomed to taking my vacation - and, what's more, both of them KNEW it. PLus - we had a woman in our office who was deaf, so I had to do her phone calls and her followup work to it.) I was only one person, and it was impossible to do all that and keep up with my incoming mail, which was a pile every day. I began to fall behind.

The day my supervisor called me in, I felt like I was coming down with the flu and was tired and didn't feel like smiling even though it was asked for. Her opening line was, "Well, do you understand why I'm going to have to let you go?"

I didn't then, and although it was several years ago, I still don't. One person cannot reasonably expected to do three people's work. It's not human.

But I agree with your assessment of your workplace.I hope your next job is a better one to work for.
