I Will Teach My Children Things My Parents Never Taught Me
When and if I do have children. I will take it upon myself to be nothing like my parents.
The parents that were supposed to be there for me, and love me, no matter what. Were the same parents who shunned me and try to “fix me” and called me “broken” for being bisexual. They didn’t understand that I was, and AM the same person they raised, and who I am attracted to, even though it is a part of who am, doesn’t define me as a person completely.
When I have children, I’ll teach them that everyone is different, and we should not judge, for that is not our job in this world. And we should be caring and compassionate even to those who are different from us, even to the ones that we think we have no connection or anything in common with. Even the ones who I don’t agree with. Because even if we think we have nothing in common, and we could never possibly understand, at the end of the day we are all human. And even if don’t understand, that doesn’t give us the right to shun people, and dehumanize each other for our differences..
