Put it in a jar, add some blades of grass, some dew drops, poke some small holes in the lid, then come back several days later (when you finally remember that you put the damn thing in a jar) and wonder why it is dead.
It worked for me when I found a ladybug as a kid. I can't imagine how it would be different for a penny. (smiles, laughs internally)
