I think they eat nickles and quarters. Or at least nibble em down a bit. Cause I can always find more pennies in the jar after I throw a few quarters in.

Dimes not so much.

What year was it minted? If it's a newer one, it is 90% (or more, depending on the year) Zinc, so there is that to consider.

Pennies eat nickels, that turn into dimes, that ages into quarters, that turn into dollars....oh wait, that's if you save it.....

Put it in a jar, add some blades of grass, some dew drops, poke some small holes in the lid, then come back several days later (when you finally remember that you put the damn thing in a jar) and wonder why it is dead.

It worked for me when I found a ladybug as a kid. I can't imagine how it would be different for a penny. (smiles, laughs internally)
