I Am Disgusted By Closed Mindedness
Disgusting...
I like history. It shares with us the vast experiences and knowledge of generation upon generation past, to both draw upon for guidance and to draw upon to avoid the mistakes of the past. I think today's current history curriculum does a pretty good job of this, I really enjoyed history classes (I was lucky to have one of the best teachers I've ever known), and I thought it was taught fairly and pretty evenly. I just feel sick to my stomach looking at their proposed changes. It is closed minded and deliberately trying to insert a bias, a slant, when history should be taught impartially, teaching you not to accept something at face value, but to realize all the circumstances and environment around a certain event that caused such and such. This plan has been initially approved, and goes to a final vote in May. If it does go through, I really an seriously concerned for the future. I feel that this is kind of like something from 1984; it shouldn't happen here...
