The moon looked merry she thought to herself as she glanced from its shifting reflection upon the river to the truth of it high up in the black sky. After the kind of consideration that was customary when making big decisions, the girl decided that on this occasion she preferred the moon’s reflection. Of course it had nothing to do with the fact that it was obviously much easier to reach the vision cast upon the river before her than its reality within the distant sky. Well perhaps a little. Though she convinced herself that it was more to do with some sense of how the reflection swayed like a dream and soothed her soul.
She waded out fully dressed into the river to reach the moon.
‘What are you doing now?! You are insane!’ Called a voice from behind her.
It made her jump. She had thought she was alone...
