I Think I'm Ugly

How can the word “ugly” be deconstructed?

By showing different leaves, different rocks, different shapes, different colors, etc. Then demonstrating the difference between subjective preference and objective reality. Objectively none is better or worse, they are just different. Subjectively according to taste there are different preferences. The ideal would be to not take a subjective offense personally because it’s not objective. After the preference is made, and a person or thing is chosen, it still goes into the “can a lot of my desires be fulfilled by him/her, or this.” A failure of the chosen one to fulfill desires could result in the rejection of them, except later than sooner.

Mmm. Well. Maybe. But, there is a somewhat objective measure of human attractiveness, which is based on symmetry. Humans subjectively like certain qualities over others: namely symmetry. So, facial symmetry is a somewhat objective measure of attractiveness.

So, ugly could be defined as a lack of symmetry.

@Tatsumi Subjective.... objectively speaking, in the greater scope of things. We can’t speak for all humans when depending on society and culture they have different standards of “beauty”.

You're right
I'm feeling you. I like what you're saying.

A diamond amongst a society made of common rocks would likely be considered ugly by popular opinion.
