I don't think they're all that relevant. I think there are different kinds of smart. I know people who are really technology and book smart but cant do anything practical like putting furniture together. then there's people who have not great skills at maths or English, but they are really good at fixing or creating things.

I think they can be useful. I think some sort of fitness for duty test might be a better way of going about determining whether a person qualifies for a chance at a given endeavor, but would that test not be a specific form of IQ test?
