I Am Drained

I've periodically helped my boyfriend make rent since I started dating him a year ago next week. Now both he and his father are jobless and I'm helping with rent more frequently and today I'm going to buy groceries for them..

Now an old friend of mine needs help making rent because she's getting her tonsils removed, and a mutual friend asked if I'd be able to help out financially

I told her I'd get back to her by the end of today. I want to help but.. not gonna lie I'm getting kind of overwhelmed

with both bf & his father unemployed it sounds like their expectation of you will only increase. Let alone the old friend. Sounds like it's time to reassess just how much you support others. I sounds to me like you will be drained both emotionally & financially. Will you still serve a purpose for those you are helping then. Time to start looking after you. Rather than being used by others.

Don't let people use you. If they see you as a doormat they will walk all over you. Just saying from experience. Sometimes what people need to hear is no or they will keep on relying on you instead of taking care of themselves.

I don't blame you for being overwhelmed ya can't save the world help who and when you can and make sure they aren't just taking advantage of you and are really trying. It is ok to say no.

The Bank of Cookie needs to assess its lending policies. My first recommendation is lines of credits are cut off until paid in full and have due dates.

Otherwise I recommend a policy of only giving away what you're willing to give away.

Ever think you're a sucker they are taking advantage of? Just asking, but it's not going to stop! It'll just get worse, then when you're drained dry and swinging in the wind, they'll just move on to someone else! (Been there, done that.)
