It Has Been Tough But Rewarding
Just thought that I'd write this up. Obviously, my experience is gonna be a little different to some people, but I thought that it would be good to share...
So...Teaching. Home teaching, specifically.
During this whole covid crap it's been an interesting 'experiment'. Never would I have thought that I would enjoyed it as much as I have.
So...to bring you up to speed, I'm a married mother of 4 girls, all ranging in age between 5 and going on 15....quite an age range.
School, myself? Kinda annoyed by it, really. It got in my way. However, I did enjoy Art, Home Economics (ie, cookery) and English when I was at school...many years ago now.
I was dreading it when Lockdown started. I mean, different ages, different subjects, different personalities....gonna be hard, right? So I kinda psyched myself out to begin with - had a big heart to heart with the hubby, a verbal 'slapping around the face' and a C'mon, you got this..' and got back on that horse...and loved it!
Naturally, my girls have had the occasional 'blip', but they've been great. We've given them time to play, kept things interesting and also had them doing some extra curriculum learning too. We've given them time to talk too. Important.
It has been a case of juggling plates at times, but I have thrived on it. I have surprised myself, actually, but I guess that is because it is something that has been so different for me to do...and that I have learned stuff on the subject matter, recalled stuff that I learned (but thought that I had forgot!) and also learned stuff about myself.
It's coming to a close, pretty soon, and I am not sure how I feel about that. I've felt closer to my girls.
...and that's something to be blessed about.
