That's a hard loss. Sometimes, you can never find someone who creates a space for themself inside you as deep and essential as someone else did.

I know this is a 2 year old post, but have you been in therapy? That sounds extremely serious.

No matter how long ago the pain is still real. 8 years or 80, some days you will have to smile through the pain of the loss and other days it won’t affect you as much. You can always fill the void with other friendships or a hobby.

Occasionally I still cry for a friend who died almost 20 years ago. There just is no replacing them.
