I Am a Engineering Student

Im nearly a second year Construction/Civil Engineering student. Going well so far but boy is it a men's club in this field. Don't think I've ever studied for anything where I've felt more out of place. I try my best to fit in but being the only girl in my class doesn't really help

It usually is... especially with mechanical and civil engineering! At the end of the course, the lone woman ends up being VERY VERY manly :/

Or I could just do what i'm doing now and work on my academia instead of trying to be one of the guys?

I'm not saying you have to be one of the guys, just that the guys rub off on her xD
All the best for your career though!

I tend to have very little to do with my classmates outside of lectures. I have my own group of friends nearby because its a fairly local university. Thanks

Oh okay! I studied at a university where you had to live in the dormitories and you had a LOT to do with your classmates because all the classes were compulsory and you had a LOT of group assignments. We ended up hanging out with people from our own class.

Yes my first BSc was like that but this course is run near to my home town so I just stay with my family and hang out with my normal friends. Most people on my course are already in industry and working including me so we don't have time for socializing
