I Like to Go to the Gym

Therapy

I belong to a very low key gym. It's Planet Fitness. No gymtimidation. There's a massage table. I discovered a perk that goes virtually underutilized. There are free classes. They are simple 30 minute sessions with a good trainer. You can choose arms, legs, abs, whatever. I have been intentional about exercise for a long time. It helps my energy levels and keeps depression at bay. I've stepped it up a bit recently and I have had great results. The classes get me to the section of the gym that I would otherwise not use. Roy the trainer is encouraging, he makes sure I'm doing the exercise or weights the right way, he's friendly and really maximizes the time I spend in the gym. When it's just me, I go slow and not near as intense. I make sure to schedule a class on the week days that I have off work.

It not only serves the purpose of getting my butt in shape but it also helps me get out of my head. It helps me refocus. The time of day the classes occur are usually around a time that I get sleepy. By the time I'm finished, I have my second wind and I'm ready to go the rest of the day. By the end of the day I am tired and I sleep wonderfully!

Another thing that going to gym helps is those times when I really get sad. After a happy morning shopping and having coffee with my daughter, I was running a couple of errands and it was close to gym time. It doesn't happen as much anymore but I heard a happy Christmas song on the radio and it reminded me of last Christmas. It's fun to have someone special during the holidays. I had so much fun last year. This year will be nice too, but I was reminded of my loss. I really miss him. I had hoped for so much more. I wanted to cook a turkey for him (his favorite meal). We made pies together. I really want to do that again with him.

This year will be good too. I have lots of family and I will make more pies for them. I will keep it up at the gym and try not to eat too much pie.

Sounds amazing. I love how you're making time for exercises because it's important to keep up with our health. It definitely will then help us have a healthy mind as well. I really hope that I could get back on track soon with my fitness. Thanks for inspiring me :) Keep up the great work!
