Isn't it ironic that my laptop shuts off and won't boot up as I am entering references for a job that I'm up for?

They are waiting on me to send the references.
I gathered my reference info last night, and waited for them to respond that they'd agree to help me.

I got the ok this morning so I tried to go in and upload references.
My laptop froze, said " windows encountered an error".

It came back up and said software is missing in order for it to boot.

NEVER had before.
So ironic that it happened when it did🙄

I had Windows crash on me completely tge other day while insisting on an auto-update. It now loops continuously when I switch on. Haven't had time to do switch-in backups :(

Several hours later, my laptop is working like normal. I was able to submit my references.

I'm glad it worked out. I would take that as a warning that the hardware is failing. I've switched to cloud storage for all of my important documents. It works just like the old way as I sit here, but I can access my goods from anywhere, even after a fire, flood, pandemic, zombie invasion, etc.

@SW-User Oh certainly , I thought about that this morning. I will be switching later this week. Do you have that web address? Or I guest I could just use google docs.

@iamnikki I use Google Drive for some personal stuff but for business it is Microsoft One Drive that comes along with my Office subscription. There is a free version of that too.

You meantioned in another post that you had tough personal issues lately. As my church would say. " The Devil is Busy".
All I know is don't stress and don't let this situation bring you down. Keep it pushing. Find another PC or whatever you have to do.
