I Think Some People Are Crazy
So I work in some very wealthy neighborhoods, where there are of course very wealthy people. I have found that the very wealthy people can be the biggest fucking idiots sometimes. Many are lovely, but some... Not to mention entitled and spoiled. This is something that happened tonight on my way home.
The street i was working on is narrow, it's curvy and of course on each side of the street there are very large homes. It's next to a very busy little shopping area for the wealthy too. So this little street is lined with cars all day all night. I hear reggae music playing in the distance as the street is also close to a famous outdoor concert venue. People park here and walk to the venue for shows.
I'm trying to go home, because its after 6pm, and putting stuff into my pickup. It's not an enormously large truck, it has no lift kit. It's not a four-wheel drive. it's like a 1992 Ford F150. So tonight as I'm loading my tarps full of debris and tools into my truck, people are trying to drive past me, or the truck, I should say.. There's not enough room for two cars to pass one another at the same time the entire length of the street. There's only enough room for one car to safely drive with another person being courteous and pulling over to let the person pass. My truck is bigger then all the little sports cars, smart cars and Prius's, but it's manageable. I've worked on this street, every Friday for 10 years, just fine.
Long story short, people are bitching to me about when am I going to move my truck? What the fuck? What a bunch of dicks. It's obvious that I'm loading my tools. I would like to go home. I'm not out in the middle of the road, I'm up against the curb just like I'm supposed to be.
Then here comes the ultimate jackass. Driving right down the middle of the road. It's best to pay attention to what coming up the road, so there is a a place to make room. This guy didn't give a rat's ass about any of this. He's now stuck right next to me, with cars behind him and others in front of him and no driveway or empty spot for anyone to pull over and make room.
He looks at me and says
Him: Move your truck.
Me: Oh yeah? Where to?
Him: Anywhere, you've caused this mess.
Me: I caused this? No, I did nothing of the sort.
Him: Well you need to move this relic.
Me: Again, where do you expect me to move it?
Him: Move this piece of shit. I've got a concert I'm trying to get to.
Me: Looks like you might be late
He then proceeded to start to honk his horn. Which inspired others, who.are trying to get somewhere, to honk too. I just continued on loading my truck. This goes on, I'm not kidding, for a couple of minutes. Now I'm done and ready to leave, but it's now actually worse. Cars have continued to get stuck. I have seen this before, so I decide with the help of.my.client to direct traffic. So we each go to the end of the two opposite lines, and have cars turn around and go back to one of the lower streets. Finally everyone has turned around except the asshole. Who yells out, as he speeds away "eco terrorist bitch".
It's all I can do to keep my cool and not follow him and come right up on him with my truck and honk and call him a fucking Dickhead, who doesn't deserve to listen to reggae music. But instead my lovely clients invite me up for a glass of wine. We sit on their deck, and listen to the music, without another issue on the street below us.
I will never forget this guy or his vehicle. I truly feel like we will meet again. We have unfinished business.
