Do you believe Lovecraft was a prophet, not just a story teller?

L Ron Hubbard wasn’t even as good of an author and there is a cult based on his writings. Why not Lovecraft?

If I was ever going to start a cult/religion based on an author's work - it would be Gary Larson.
(for our home audience...Gary Larson was the cartoonist behind The Far Side)...

I don't think Lovecraft ever claimed to be a prophet. If he did and Cthulhu was based on a true story I'm sure there would be a following. It's less ridiculous than Xenu.
