What historical figures do you admire?

Cleopatra ruled a kingdom against great odds. Talk about strength.
Jesus. While salvation is free for us, He paid the ultimate sacrifice for it, with His life. If some only realized how great that sacrifice was and what it means for them.

Captain James Cook. It took him nearly a year to send word to his wife and family that he was at sea, something we can do in seconds in this day and age without giving it a thought.

He had a dream and he wasn't afraid of it despite knowing he wouldn’t see his family and would face life threatening treacherous oceans.
Courageous. But opened the doors to destroying other cultures. @SW-User

Rambler · M
I wasn’t thinking of characters but of them as men whose lives I admire and respect. Among many others.
Beckett changed writing. Genius.

With considerable suffering. I would also include TS Eliot as a figure I greatly respect.
