I Cried My Eyes Out When My Bum Was Smacked

I was brought up during the 50s and 60s when getting a smack bum was commonplace. My mum could flip a naughty girl over her knee and give a bum a good smacking in a brace of shakes. My sister and I often had that experience both as individuals and together. In fact rarely a week went by when one of us wasn’t over her knee for some misdemeanour which led to loads of crying and pleading and a bright red bum at the end, which we would then try to cool off.
Even as teenagers mum believed we were not too old to feel the weight of her hand if we misbehaved. Not just once but every time we needed it. Did it do it any harm apart from a sore bottom and a damaged ego? Not in the slightest we are both now agreed! Good on yer mum! You taught us to behave!

@sarahcs my aunt had three daughters and the hairbrush was her “ mother’s little helper. “

@jackcros hairbrush hurts a lot ,it is always on a dresser ready to be usedno one thinks it is for spanking

@jackcros my mums hairbrush was her tool she dealt with my sister and me with, her change in voice was often enough to know you was in big trouble

@sarahcs each girl had a hairbrush on her dressing table ready for action. They all stung a lot.

@Denise61 “Get upstairs” was my aunt’s usual portent of our doom.
Denise61 · F
@jackcros fetch the hairbrush was the one here we feared
jackcros · 70-79, M
@Denise61 I suspect the end result was the same.

@jackcros oh yes, many tears and preference for standing
jackcros · 70-79, M
@Denise61 eating tea off the mantelpiece was the phrase we used
sarahcs · 61-69, F
@Denise61 lots of tears then lay on my bed afterwards rubbing

@jackcros I haven't heard that one before but it would have been very appropriate after a session on the receiving end of Dad's slipper
jackcros · 70-79, M
@smacked30D you might have had more standing buffets than sit-down dinners.
sarahcs · 61-69, F
@jackcros it was hard to sit the next day
jackcros · 70-79, M
@sarahcs hairbrush and cane do leave a longer lasting reminder than the slipper

@Denise61 You are right about a change in voice signalling that a very sore bottom was in your immediate future!

@Alfred22 When I had been sent to the dining toom after disobeying my father , my bottom twitched too knowing exactly what he was about to give me across his knee ! Sure enough I was soon crying and rubbing my very sore bottom !
