Yes, in today's society there are so many freaks out there. Nothing wrong with having the police do a drive by and let it know you are aware that it is lurking.

Never happen here, the gun laws in my city strongly discourage "lurking". Few willing to test if the home owner has a weapon and ammunition as required I think.
Safest house I've ever lived. Now at work have called and been assisted by police. In the environment today, never doubt your gut to call help. Better the cops find nothing then come up later to a crime scene.
