why is society so primitive?

In general people rarely support one another, but why? It is horrible to live amoungst people knowing most are just out for themselves.

@waleskinder agreed can be that you care more than the ppl you're caring for.

Actually, I would think that more primitive societies supported each other better than societies of current times. The reason behind me feeling our societies are so primitive these days is because we keep holding onto the past way too much. Most people still using an old measurement system instead of a modern system as an example. But on your point of people supporting each other, I think communities were more supportive of each other hundreds of years ago compared to today.

@gmatthewb some communities, namely indigenous ones we call savages lol
gmatthewb · 51-55, M
@JovialPlutonian We could learn a lot from those savages really, but too many people are not open minded enough to understand that.
There are many reasons we are like this as a society today. It didn’t just happen overnight.
Education of the heart. Not possessions. We are all very well versed in that by now. Hence greed. @JovialPlutonian

@soulsrespite ikr they teach nothing of the heart in school.
I believe people will slowly change. We are not only hurting ourselves but the entire environment we reside in. We are acting like parasites to the earth right now. @JovialPlutonian

I think society only works for certain people. I would prefer to have my own little plot of land away from everyone rather than rely on others.

I think it is just a version of survival of the fittest.
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@Dainbramadge as opposed to 'we are all one'.
Dainbramadge · 56-60, M
@JovialPlutonian Yeah. WE have certain instincts that are hard to shake. Survial is one.

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link.
To which I may add, I actually think as a society we are regressing. We claim we are so advanced and this and that, but all we have is technology in the hands of people that are trapped in themselves, behaving like children. Even children have a better sense of themselves.

Society is de-evolving in my opinion. Empathy, for others, is a skill many no longer have, and many are too self centered to care about anyone else. I can't say what is causing this, but I find it very sad.

Welcome to capitalism...

As communism failed we're stuck in this crappy limbo

@Tiddz200 it's funny how they say communism failed. This is hardly succeeding but ppl still continue to support it.

I feel like that too. Sometimes it can feel lonely, like an island in a sea of self-centered people.
wuiop2 · 41-45
Which society, specifically?
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@wuiop2 any you tend to encounter, I can't really pin point one that isn't
wuiop2 · 41-45
@JovialPlutonian How many have you encountered, including subcultures?
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@wuiop2 the only ones I have encountered that aren't that way have been indigenous tribes

JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@revenant I don't remember them being together
revenant · F
@JovialPlutonian they do exist
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@revenant I just feel like I'm fighting a lost cause
xixgun · M
I blame this
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@xixgun technology is the only thing we've evolved in
