Do you pretend to look happy when you don't like your pressent?

True. In this case, I need to prolong my smile..no matter how abstract it is. I feel happy for the thoughts. Appreciation is okay.

Yes, i’ think of the money I’d get from selling it 🙃
Obviously I’m joking, it never happened to me so I don’t know.

It's not about pretending. Trying to feel happy gives you strength and positive approach to face your present.

We got over that a long time ago in my family. No one was fooled. Now it’s gift cards all the way.

@LyricalOne no ones sour now..that's a good initiative 😊

@Sepia Best thing. I hate wasting my money on things people don’t really want. This way they can choose.

I am always cordial and polite about it, there's a lot of truth in "it's the thought that counts". I can always appreciate that someone thought that much of me to give me a gift. You can also tell just how much thought was put into it (whether they made and honest effort or it was just a "have to" gesture), but even if it was just a lame gesture I'm going to still be polite about it and say thank you with a smile on my face.
