How do u cope with a narcissistic senior that u must care for?

[image deleted]This person also has Asperger's Syndrome! Nothing u can say to them matters much to them unless it's something they're interested in... Ugh!!

A gallons of patience and understanding. You're the able one, you should know how to deal with those kinds of people specifically person with disabilities.

@SW-User I wonder if this person gave permission for her photo to be on the internet with such hate towards her client

@nedkelly who knows. Anyone can make up stories 🤷🏻

It appears to me that you are unable to accept this person illness, maybe you could be a bit more understanding
@nedkelly I hear u & agree! It's when they take full advantage and are almost sadistic that gets me!

I have a rather extensive background in caring for seniors with Dementia/Alzheimer's disease, and the first thing I was taught was the symptoms of the disease. Then I had to learn (and accept) that their actions/behaviors (verbal and otherwise) were not directed at me; but a manifestation of their disease. In other words, I had to learn to not take it personal. What you may be experiencing, especially the seemingly narcissistic behaviors, are more likely symptoms of the disease. In fact, after a quick read, I think they may well be. http://health.facty.com/conditions/aspergers-syndrome/10-symptoms-of-aspergers-syndrome-know-the-signs/?utm_source=adwords&utm_medium=c-search&utm_term=%2Basperger's%20%2Bsyndrome&utm_campaign=f-h-aspergers-symptoms-usa&gclid=CjwKCAiAqIHTBRAVEiwA6TgJw4bPfDaO-hyqYkMR852JfWwegEniFjvE_UfR1RBGHNR1BpcDUblPMRoCGQoQAvD_BwE

Be very patient and loving. They need your full support.

It’s difficult. My son has aspergers also. He just doesn’t think like me so I have to be patient with him everyday. It’s not easy but it’s not his fault. @Shewolfiie69
@jaymic64 Thx very much for explaining that to me! Ur love for him will carry him thru! Good luck Jay!!!!

Get a new line of work?
nedkelly · 61-69, M
@SW-User This lady in the photo looks around 40 - 43 that is far from being a senior
Thx? I'm not quite there yet thank you! Lol! This coming March I will be 40! This pic was taken after a night of crying my eyes over the death of one of my dogs...
@SW-User No, it's not a new line of work... It's simply volunteer work for both Animal abuse Ctr.'s and helping out at my neighood's nursing home...

Put them in a really shitty care home
@SandInMyShoes nah! That's a shortcut that come back to haunt me! But...thx!
Iam so sorry. I would say abandon them but it's easier said than done

Its difficult, especially if its a close relation. Be as patient as you can without leaving yourself climbing up the wall.

Leave them out on the lawn
