Some suggestions, please, for cleaning up a VERY messy room

My room is an awful mess...and I live in ONE rented room! So I need to clean it up and soon. I have a lot of trash around, a lot of clutter. And a lot of old empty wine bottles to put out into our recycle bin. When I get the trash and junk out, I will hire someone to sweep and wash my floor.

Anyone here ever deal with this kind of problem? I can use some suggestions and some encouragement. If I can't get it to look better, I could get thrown out of here. I like it here and don't want that to happen. Also, looking at my room is demoralizing. It's contributing to my current state of depression. I am 75 years old and arthritic so doing anything is hard most days.

Start in one corner and do a little every day... little and often will soon add up in getting everything spick and span.

Maybe it would help you to get into the habit of throwing away old items as soon as they are empty in future, too??? That way bottles and jars are out of the house long before they can accumulate in the first place.
