I Am Not Afraid of Bugs

Omg so there has been this really crazy, huge, loud, half flying/half crawling bug in my yard the past couple of days!😳 I'm not usually afraid of bugs but this gargantuan thing was starting to weird me out!😟 I had no idea what the heck it was so I googled and googled until I finally found it--it's a tarantula hawk.😧 They're freaking ruthless--their sting anesthetizes their prey who they then drag back to a pre-dug burrow (or the spider's own den😵), lay an egg on them and then leave, covering the door on the way out.😑 The poor spider then serves as a live meal for the baby bug for days/weeks.😱 Well at least I know what it is now.🙄 Here are some lovely visual aids:😇

People rarely get stung by tarantula hawks but they are said to have one of the most painful of all insect stings. Here's a video you may or may not want to watch of a dude purposely being stung by one. :-) Ouch! Scroll to 10:50 in if you want to cut to the chase. :-)

Wasps can be pretty wicked in a battle.
I remember finding my first Cicada Killer as a child. It was huge!

@Bean17:
I am sure the spider is paralyzed by the venom and feels nothing.

Lice use that same strategy. Gorilla glue their little nits right next to their little ones guaranteed food source--the human scalp.😑 Nature.🙄 It is quite fascinating though..😄@Pfuzylogic:

@Bean17:
Wasps can sting many times without losing their stinger, not like a Bee!
