I Am Feeling Sad
Today, I didn't think I had the strength to do what needed to be done, then I thought of your strength and dedication to duty. The mission always came first.
The horrendous trip by car, two airplanes across the ocean, and the Red Cross paging you to take a call before we boarded. Your mother had died, but you couldn't turn back because our youngest was waiting for us across an ocean. He needed us. You grieved in flight and were exhausted. That was the trip from hell, and even when we all collapsed on our hotel beds, you had to get me to the hospital, so you flagged a police car. They said, "we're not an ambulance," but your accent changed their minds. A yank! Sure that makes a difference. 馃槉 So with all that and more strange happenings to come before we headed back to another grueling journey, we completed the mission because of your strength and determination to do your duty.
Thinking of that time, and other times, when you gave your all, and worked through the pain, gave me strength to mourn you, and still do what needed to be done today. Thank you for lending me your strength, brave warrior.
