I watch an American documentary called Killer In The Classroom last night

It was very interesting to hear the story from the students point of view and how is affected them and what they are doing about it.

It would appear that Trump did himself on favours posting what he did on social media.

Agree or disagree, after the mass shooting at Port Arthur in Tasmania, our prime minister at the time introduced tough new gun laws, it stopped this kind of thing dead in its tracks, there hasn’t been another one since.

Our American politicians, at least a good deal of them, are slaves to they lobbyists promoting our "ight to bear arms".

An interesting movie with this topic is "Miss Sloane" which is on Amazon.

@DistractedKate101 The whole political system is corrupt not just in the states either. Thanks for the heads up about the movie, I’ll be sure to watch it. What a lot of people don’t realise is that people can still own firearms here. It’s just heavily controlled and of course fully automatic guns are outlawed, a small price to pay for people’s safety.

I agree with you that we need more gun control in the US, but when I mentioned on another post many months ago the new laws after the Port Arthur massacre, your fellow Australian, theoneyouwerewarnedabout said that there wasn’t much gun crime in Australia prior to the Port Arthur killings and showed me some stats that indicated that gun crime and shootings had actually somewhat increased since the new laws. What do you say to that?

@JP1119 That’s correct, Australia like most other countries around the world is experiencing more gun violence. We actually breached this subject at school and the findings of those who were committed these crimes was really interesting. Most of it is gang related and kept within the criminal world fortunately. I’ll leave it at that as the last time I mentioned gang violence here it started an argument 🤷‍♀️

The gun control measures here appears to have stopped those random lunatics from committing mass shootings. And if it wasn’t for that I believe there would have been shootings in schools here as well. As we tend to follow American trends here, for better or worse.

Sadly the trend of using a car to commit mass killings appears to have started here, an unfortunate claim to fame.
