I Have Seen A Dead Body Before

I found my dad's body in his house, three days after he had died. He lived alone, was ill, and I talked to him every few days by phone.
His friend called me, worried that he hadn't appeared online in a few days. I immediately drove up to his small house in the snow. When I saw the stack of newspapers outside his door I knew that he was dead or helpless.
He was right inside the front door where he had fallen. He had [i]liver mortis[/i] on his face and head.
I was relieved, as I was dreading that he was alive but suffering. He would have hated to have been taken to a hospital or a hospice. He died how he wanted to die, at home.
