Pretty sure it's the reason why people avoid me and why I hardly have any friends. People like to look on the bright side 100% and refuse to look at the opposing side.

Now now, don't exaggerate. It's a rare specimen that won't look at the dark side at least to acknowledge that it should be averted. I give people the benefit of the doubt that they can imagine a bad scenario, and just deny it or don't look at either illumination of the picture.
