I Have Lyme Disease

A Short Tale Of Infected Insects... I've had many a tickbite over the years,I often go plunging off the beaten track,so it's not surprising.but never an infection...

Then a few weeks ago I had the telltale "bullseye" rash which kept getting bigger...hello-fatigue,muddled thinking, irritability, nervous tension...I was finally persuaded to wobble into the ER (which was not an easy decision for me of the no medical coverage-I just won't get sick-fr<x>ame of mind) many hours and pokes, prods and bloodtests later it turns out I am indeed infected with the dreaded brain-eating parasites, yikes.
so I go and get all healthy just to succumb to this??? the good news is that with early detection and massive doses of strong antibiotics,I can expect to fully recover and even be more immune to future infections, whew!
I have known many many folks who have suffered immensely with this condition,it is easy to misdiagnose and can affect many of the body's systems with horiffically debilitation effects. Life's not fair,so be proactive as best you can.

this circumstance explains much of my recent mailaise and inabilty to write very well lately-I thought I was just exhausted...well,I was. that is,I am.this will pass.Be aware of ticks and other creepy crawlies in your area and eat healthy,my friends.
You do not want this illness, trust me.

Hey dubkebab .. hope you're feeling better hon and are fully recovered. I had a run in with this some years ago .. in about 1999 or thereabouts I think. I got bitten in a forest outside of Paris where I was picnicking with the family that summer. Got a rash and got sick. I had the blood tests but it's apparently difficult to diagnose because tests can give false positive results ... anyway ... did the antibiotics just in case. You have to take the antibiotics for at least a month because of the way the parasite reproduces and you have to catch the whole cycle ... anyway ... scary times. I've not had any problems since so I think I caught it in time ... but it's important to do your own research and take your own steps ... I had to insist that I needed a month's worth of antibiotics from the doc as I was more up to date with the research than she was ... anyway onward and upward .. but you do have to be careful!!

I'm confused? Since you fought it early are you ok now? Forgive me my Lyme brain makes me slow to catch on lol. But if that's the case that's awesome. My infection lasted I believe for a few years before being caught. But im not sure bc I did come up positive in the regular CDC testing methods. Still not feeling so great after 4 years since being diagnosed. But I keep trying to be strong. I keep working my butt off to support my young daughter and I but its soooo hard with all the pain and fatigue. And honestly I'd rather keep the pain and trade for mental clarity again, and energetic happy mornings. Oh I miss those, so much. Sorry for my longwindedness but I felt a little envious that your story seems like you got better so quickly. But perhaps I'm not understanding. Well if it's tru then there can be hope for us all to find the path back to feeling good and energetic and regular not horrific pain. Just to fully enjoy a carefree life agin. Wishes to all for that.

Wow, I'm so sorry you got this. But I'm glad you got early intervention.

Mosquitos ten miles away have been known to make a sharp u-turn to come my way and suck my blood. I pretty much stayed in my hotel room for four days in New Delhi because of a dengue fever outbreak. I wasn't going to give those mosquitos a chance! But to my knowledge, I have never been bitten or sucked on (or whatever it is they do) by a tick. And I hike a lot! Perhaps those creepy crawlers just go for different blood types.

Anyway, wishing you a very speedy recovery. I know you know about eating yogurt or taking acidophilus. But what your doctor won't tell you, drink a ton of water. And it doesn't hurt to imagine your immune system kicking the shit out of the intruders.

How very unpleasant. I've dodged that bullet quite a few times myself. Of course im not nearly as outdoorsy as i used to be.
