I Wanna Live Life With Passion

I avoided selecting education as a degree in College.
For me, it's kinda boring and would make me feel old and grumpy.

Now, I'm older and wiser. I never thought that teaching could be my passion.
Teaching English as a second language made a pivotal point in my life.
Waking up before 5AM to teach online before I go to my regular job pave the way to earn the fruits of my labor.
I got a raise and was endorsed to a higher position. Yay!

I enjoy talking to people while teaching them.
This saved me from boredom.
I continue to learn alot aside from nurturing a certain kind of fulfillment.
Teaching is a noble profession. It requires patience and tedious diligence.
I never imagined I had it in me, sitting in the darkest corner of my heart and mind. I'm very glad I find this passion by chance.

The only disadvantage...?
I rarely go here nowadays. I almost forgot my username and password. LOL

I'm given serious consideration to over the past few years to switching careers and becoming a teacher. Two things stop me. First, it's really difficult where I live to get a certification without having specifically gone to college for education. The easiest (and of course most expensive) is to get my Master's in education, in a program that includes student teaching. There are a few other ways, but all of them will cost somewhere around $20k, give or take.

Second, if I were to spend all that money to get certified, I would then have the privlidge of taking somewhere around a 50% pay cut (again, give or take) from my current salary level to the salary of a new teacher - even with offsets for having a Master's degree (if I went that route) and for the bump in "experience" pay some districts give people in my situation.

C'est la vie, I guess...

@LookingForIt987 whatever you decide if it's worth your money, time and effort you still win.

Some people think the “warm fuzzies” are the reward for teaching.
It is more than that when you change lives.

That is a very wise and inspire thing to say. I'll hope I can find my true passion..

@SW-User You're still young. You have a long way to discover your true passion. I wish you find it.
